In this word it’s all about what you “see”. We act according to what we see, we make decisions based on what we see, we call the shots according to what we see- or the way we see it, we believe everything we see- “seeing is believing”. (What you see is the way it is.)
In the kingdom of God it’s not about what you see, it's all about what you “hear”. "Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed." (John 20:29) Jesus told Thomas that faith was not rooted in the things you see, but in hearing. He should have believed what he heard the other disciples tell him about their seeing Jesus earlier. He should have believed the words that Jesus had spoken before the crucifixion-- that He would rise again. What you hear from God-- from His Word-- is the way it is. Sight and hearing don't always "line up". They don't always "agree" with each other. It certainly didn't "line up" at the cross. What was seen with the natural eye was death, shattered dreams, hopelessness, fear, confusion, etc. But that was not reality-- that was not truth. What was happening was the greatest victory ever won, the greatest demonstration of love ever witnessed, hope for all mankind, reconciliation between God and man, a way made to the Father and grace. Therefore, we should act according to what we hear, we should make our decisions based on what we hear, we should call it according to what we hear, we should believe what we hear- “hearing is believing”. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17
Have a great day. What you see is not always the true picture. Truth comes from hearing God's Word.
