"Encouraging Words"

"Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knee."  Hebrews 12:12

There are times when we all are faced with discouragement.  There are times when we all go through trials, temptations, attacks of the enemy, times when we feel condemned, make mistakes and feel ashamed, times when we get weak and want to give up.  During those times we need, and want, encouragement.  But not only do we need encouragement ourselves, but we need to remember that others go through some of the same hard times that we go through so we need to give encouragement.

The Bible calls us to bear one another's burdens.  It reminds us also that as we have opportunity to do good, do it-- especially to those of the household of faith.  The opportunity to do good does not always come in the form of giving some material or monetary thing.  Sometimes it is a word of encouragement.  Sometimes it is a word that brings hope.  Sometimes it is a word that is fitly spoken at the right time.  Sometimes it is a word of wisdom, clarity, direction and edification given by the Holy Spirit to speak to someone.  Those, to me, are more valuable and more needed than tangible things.  The Bible says that a word spoken at the appropriate time is like apples of gold in pitchers of silver. It also says that when a word is spoken at the right time it is good.

Let's be those who go about doing good by giving words of hope, help and comfort to others.  Let's be those who will lift people up through our words instead of pull them down.  Let's be those who will speak words of life and peace to those who are hurting.  Let's be Jesus' mouth piece to others.

Have a great day.  Don't be one who is more focused on being encouraged, but be focused on how to be an encourager.
