"Superheroes"

"Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes."  Song Of Solomon 2:15

This morning I want to continue to talk about why the church needs a Reformation, Restoration of Truth and Revival.  We are being destroyed for lack of knowledge.  We have become worldly minded instead of Biblical minded.  We accept a World view and pattern our lives and churches after it.  Even in the "little things" we have lost our discernment and ability to know truth from error.  Let me give you an example.

Recently, I have seen an advertisement for a T-shirt.  It is a t-shirt with Jesus and some of the Superheroes on it-- Spiderman, the Hulk, Ironman, etc.  Jesus is telling them about how He saved the world.  The first time I saw it, I didn't think much about it.  As a matter of fact, I thought it was pretty "neat".  But later, the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to something I had not paid attention to.  It is Jesus and the Superheroes.  The dictionary defines superhero as:  a benevolent fictional character with superhuman powers, such as Superman.  Did you hear that?  They are "fictional" characters.  They aren't real.  They do not exist.  To put Jesus in their company sends a message that says He too isn't real and does not exist, He is just another fictional character with superhuman powers.

Jesus is not fictional.  He does not posses superhuman powers.  He did not get His power from some molecular, DNA altering event.  He did not get His power from some technological advancement.  He didn't get His power from any natural means.  He is All-Powerful because He is GOD!!!  The Almighty, The Creator, The Savior of the World.  He has always been All-Powerful and always will be.

When we present Jesus as though He is one of many superheroes, I have to ask the question, "What message are we sending?".  You may think I am being "nit-picky" and "dogmatic" but it is a serious matter.  It is opening up the door to doubt, to confusion, to unbelief concerning the truth of who Jesus really is.  It is painting a picture that Jesus is just another "altered empowered human" and that He is another "fictitious character" imagined by some person or generation instead of the truth that He is God.

It may seem like a "small" thing and that it is not hurting anything, but that is not true.  The little foxes spoil the vine.  And this may be a "little" message on a t-shirt, but it is misleading and there is no truth in it.  If we fall for the "small" things we will surely fall for the "bigger".

Have a great day.  Be discerning and don't accept anything just because it sounds good.  Is it truth?  Is it based on the Word of God?
