"Recompense"

"Therefore hath the Lord recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight."  Psalm 18:24

Among the many things that the Lord does for us-- fights our battles, loads us with blessings, gives mercy and strength, walks with us, doesn't leave us, gives us power over the powers of the enemy, meets and supplies all our need, etc.-- He also recompenses usThe word recompense means:  compensation or reward given for loss or harm suffered or effort made.  To make it plain and simple-- He rewards our faithfulness and He compensates us for our loss and suffering.

Everything we receive from the Lord is by grace-- it is unearned.  But there are two sides to grace.  One side is compensation.  He compensates us for our loss and suffering.  This is something we don't earn or deserve.  It is strictly given by grace, and mercy.  This is what happens when we come to Christ for salvation.  He restores (compensates) all that the enemy and sin stole from us at the time of the fall of Adam-- eternal life, communion and fellowship with Him, righteousness, authority in the earth, and so on.

The other side is that He rewards us when we have been faithful to Him, to His will, to His commands and instructions.  When we honor Him, when we obey Him, He causes His grace to reward us.  His grace causes us to eat the fat of the land through our obedience.

Are you faithful?  God's grace will honor and reward it.  Are you suffering loss?  God's grace will recompense you.

Have a great day.  The Lord is the recompenser.
