"Prisoner"

"For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles."  Ephesians 3:1

There are many Christian songs and hymns that talk about surrendering to the Lord.  Have you surrendered to Him?  Have you surrendered everything to Him?  Are you holding on to something that you need to surrender?

The Bible calls those of us who put our trust and faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and follow Him as Lord:  Christians, believers, disciples, servants, children, heirs and prisoners.  We are called prisoners of Christ.  A prisoner is someone who surrenders and submits to the authority of another.  When we think about prisoners, we usually think about people who have committed crimes and are receiving punishment.  As a prisoner of Jesus Christ, that is not the case.  We are prisoners by choice.  We are prisoners of love.  We have freely given ourselves to Him.

When a person enters a prison, they have to surrender their belongings.  They also surrender their wants, desires, wishes and will.  They become the "property" of someone else.  It is the same for us.  We become His "property"-- surrendered to His will and desire for us.  "For you were bought with a price. 1 Corinthians 6:20"

When we think of prisoners, it conjures up a negative view.  But being a "prisoner of Jesus" is any thing but negative.  As I said earlier we are prisoners of love.  That being the case, He takes full responsibility for us.  That also being the case, means that we can easily surrender all to Him because He will take care of and replace the "all" that we truly need.  That being the case once again, we can surrender all our trust to Him as well.

Have a great day.  Are you a love prisoner of Jesus?  If so, have you surrendered all to Him?
