"The Finishing Touch"

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay".  Matthew 28:6

We are getting ready to celebrate the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ.  The cross was the greatest demonstration of love.  It was there through His own blood that Jesus purchased our salvation and became the accepted payment for our sins.  Through His death we have forgiveness of sins and the opportunity to have a relationship with God the Father.

The cross purchased our salvation but the resurrection gave power to it.  Without the resurrection the work was not complete.  But Praise the Lord.... it is finished.  The grave could not hold Jesus.  Death could not hold Him.  The stone at the opening of the tomb could not hold Him.  The seal on the tomb could not hold Him.  The guards stationed at the tomb could not hold Him.  He came out!  And He came out victorious!!!

Now, death has no power over us-- there is no victory or sting in death for us.  Sin has no power over us-- we are set free from the law of sin and death.  Our relationship with the Father has been restored-- we are no longer enemies but heirs and joint-heirs with God.

Celebrate the cross.  Celebrate the resurrection.  Celebrate the risen Savior who loved us and gave Himself for us and rose again to put His great act of love in force.

Have a great day.  The resurrection was the finishing touch that gave the cross power to give us salvation and eternal life.
