"The Unlikely"

"And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: " Hebrews 11:32

Have you ever paid attention to who is listed in the "Hall of Faith"? Gedeon was a coward. Samson was unwise and liked the women. Jephthae made rash vows. David was an adulterer and murderer. Barak was fearful. The people listed there are not people that we would consider worthy of recognition. They are the kind of people that we would cast off as "losers". While we might not have added their names to the list, God did.

Aren't you glad that God takes the weak, the foolish, the fearful, those that we deem as failures and turns them into wise, mighty, powerful, faithful, victorious, winners! There aren't any of us, or them, that deserve to have our names in a list of those who have great faith no matter how great we may appear or how highly we are thought of by others. The faith that we have to do exploits like these did - "Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. (verses 33,34) - comes for God. It is His faith that is imparted to us that makes us more than conquerors and able to accomplish any great task. "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)

You may be feeling pretty weak this morning. You might be feeling like a failure. You might feel like a loser. You might feel unworthy. But be encouraged because that makes you a candidate for God to be able to do something great in you and through you.

Have a great day. We may feel like failures in our own estimation, other people may look at us as failures, but even if we are, God can take us and make something great out of us that will be a testimony to His greatness.
