"Satan Doesn't Change - Part 2"

"Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." Luke 10:19

Yesterday we talked about recognizing the devil when he comes to steal, kill and destroy.  We said we can recognize him because he doesn't change-- he uses the same weapons and tactics over and over again.  But recognizing that it is him is not the end of it.  After you recognize that it's him, you have to then make a choice--- are you going to let him plant his fear, discouragement, bitterness, anger, unbelief, deception, condemnation, guilt, etc., in your heart or are you going to take your God-given authority over him?

You can't stop him from coming with his accusations and temptations, but you can stop him from planting them in your heart.  You have heard the proverbial saying-- you can't stop the birds from flying over your head but you can stop them from building a nest in your hair.  Same is true, spiritually speaking.  You can't stop the devil from attacking you, you can't stop everything thing from happening to you, you can't stop temptations, but you can stop them from happening "in" you.  In other words, you have the choice of whether or not what happens to you will build a "nest" or not.

The devil is trying to build a "nest" in your heart-- a nest of all the things we have already named.  You don't have to let him.  You don't have to roll over and play dead.  You don't have to give up.  You don't have to be defeated.  You, as a born-again child of God, have been given power and authority over the devil. Jesus already got you the victory over him.  Jesus already defeated the devil.  A bird trying to build a nest in my hair is no match for me-- I am bigger, more powerful, smarter and wiser. Well, the devil is no match for the Jesus inside of you, He is bigger and more powerful-- greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4) You have been given power and authority over all his powers.

The devil doesn't change in his tactics.  Neither does he change in position-- he is already defeated, therefore, he can never change into a winner!!!  So, what are you going to do?  Allow him to build a "nest" of anger, bitterness, guilt, fear and so on in your heart?  Or are you going to forbid him through the authority that you have in Jesus Christ-- the One who has already defeated the devil!

Have a great day.  Are you going to let the devil build a "nest" in your heart or are you going to take your God-given authority over him and stop him?
