"Seeking Answers"

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

"Come unto Me". He didn't say go to your best friend, run to the phone, look to your employer, your accountant, or any one of the numerous other places we tend to go and seek out when we are in need. He said to come to Him.

When we go to other people hoping that they will solve our problems or give us our answers, we will still lack in receiving the help that we need. All they can do for us is give us their own imperfect wisdom and advice in the matter. They can help come up with a temporary solution but they can't give us what we truly need. They don't have that type of understanding. They don't have that type of knowledge. They don't see the whole picture or know what the future holds.

Am I saying that we should never talk to one another or have some counsel? Of course not. What I am saying is that if we are looking to people for our answers we are looking in the wrong place. They may can advise us. They may can speak to us from their realm of expertise but when it comes down to it, only God can give us clear and true direction. We can take what they say into consideration, but then we have to seek the Lord for our answer and guidance.

So who are you going to? Are you going to the Lord? Are you going to other people? Are you going to both? Which one are you allowing to influence your decision and answer in the end?

Have a great day. It is not wrong to ask for advice, but in the end, it is the counsel of the Lord that you need to follow- not man's.
