"A Becoming Garment"

"Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. ." Psalm 33:1

"Praise is comely for the upright". The word "comely" means- fitting or becoming. When a lady makes herself attractive in her appearance by wearing a nice dress and the right accessories, what she is wearing is becoming and flatters her feminity. Praise is like a garment that is worn by the Christian. And in the same way, praise is becoming on a Christian-- it looks "nice" on us. It becomes who we are.

On the other hand, when a woman dresses in a very careless, mannish, or indecent manner, it does not flatter her but distracts from her appearance instead- it is not very becoming. When a Christian criticizes, complains, murmurs, is negative, bitter, hypocritical or condemning, it is not becoming of who we are. Instead it distracts from who we are- more importantly, from Who we represent.

What garment are you wearing? The garment of praise that is becoming to your profession of being a Christian? Or are you wearing the garment of "fleshly conduct", "inappropriate speech", "destructive words" or "bad attitudes" that is not becoming at all?

Have a great day. When Christians wear the garment of praise, it is becoming and "flatters" the One we represent. And any other attitude is not becoming.
