"Steps of Light"

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid." Matthew 5:14

My little granddaughter has a pair of shoes that have lights in the soles. Each time she makes a step the light shines. Jesus called us "the light of the world" if we have His light in us. As lights in the world, we should be like her shoes-- shining with each step we make.

The lights in her shoes shine regardless of where she is and what she is doing. If she is in church they light up. If she is at home they light up. If she is walking around the grocery store, they light up there too. When she is playing, they shine. No matter where we go or what we do our lights should be shining. Is your light shining as you are "walking around" this world? Is it shining in each place you go? Is it shining in your home; on your job; around town? Is it shining even though you may be walking through the valley, through the fire, through a storm? Is it shining so that all can see?

It is extremely hard to keep those shoes from shining- I really don't know what you would have to do to stop them from doing so. it should be hard to keep our lights from shining-- actually, it should be impossible. Wicked men tried to stop the light of Christ from shining in the early church but the more they tried, the brighter it shone in the lives of the apostles and followers of Christ. Threats could not stop it from shining. Persecution could not stop it. Imprisonment didn't stop their lights from shining. On the contrary, the more the light was tried to be destroyed the brighter it shined. Are you letting things-- rejection from others, the cares of this life, persecution, etc.-- stop your light from shining? Or is it shining brighter in spite of what you are facing?

Have a great day. Our lights should be shining no matter where we are or what we are going through. And it should be impossible for anything to stop them from shining.
