"Work Within The Law"

"And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing." 1 Corinthians 13:3

We all have goals and desires in life. Because of my Christianity mine are to help feed the hungry, clothe the naked, touch people for Jesus so they may know how real He is and how much He loves them. I am sure that these are some of your goals and desires as well.

While these are admirable and in accordance with God's will as lined out by Him in His word, there is no profit in doing all these good works if there is no love behind them up. Instead we are just "sounding brass and tinkling cymbals".

There are Kingdom principles that we live by. Our physical works (giving a cup of cold water in Jesus' name, etc.) and our spiritual worship (presenting ourselves as living sacrifices) all has to be backed by, motivated from and accomplished through love. Love is the primarily principle of God's Kingdom- because He is love. It is also the primary Law of the Kingdom- God does all things by and in accordance with His love. When asked about which commandment was the greatest, Jesus said that it was to love God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind; and to love our neighbor as ourselves. He revealed to us what the "Law" of the Kingdom was- it is love. Love is a law, as well as a Person, as well as the nature and character of God, and not just a warm fuzzy feeling, or a word that we use loosely. The New Covenant that God has made with us through His Son Jesus was established through love- John 3:16.

As citizens of any nation, state or city, anything we do, any business we conduct, has to be done in accordance with the law of that nation, state or city. Each time I purchase a new building to help house the ministry, I have to get a permit to do so because it is the law of this city. I can't operate "outside of the law"- I have to follow its requirements or be in violation. As citizens of God's Kingdom we cannot operate and do His business "outside of the Law" either- the Law of Love- or we will be in violation as well.

Have a great day. Do the work of the Kingdom, but do it within the "Law of the Kingdom"- the Law of Love- and don't be in violation.
