"Why Are You Here?"

"And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?" 1 Kings 19:9

Elijah had just experienced a tremendous victory- he called fire down from heaven and it consumed the altar, he killed the prophets of Baal, God gave witness that he was His prophet- and now we see him hiding in a cave because of one woman's threats. While in the cave God came to him and asked him a question- "Why are you here?" God was asking him, "Why are you sitting here in a cave? Why aren't you out there fulfilling your call? Why are you hiding in fear? Why are you sitting here in intimidation, depression, worry?"

This morning is He asking you the same question? Are you in a "cave"? Are you sitting in fear, despondency, anxiety, confusion, self pity? Have you let the threats of the enemy send you into "hiding"? Get up, there is a small still voice speaking to you to come out of the cave. Don't let the threats of the enemy send you into a cave. Don't listen to his lies- that's what they are. Don't let him intimidate you- greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. Instead of running when he got Jezebel's message that she was going to kill him, he should have responded back to her that God would deal with her.

You have a choice when the enemy threatens you-- stand or run. There is no reason for you to run, you are a child of God and He is with you. There is no reason to run because you have been given power over all the powers of enemy so that nothing by any means shall hurt you. There is no reason to run because Jesus already defeated him. There is no reason to run because the same God who had just answered by fire will move on your behalf.

Have a great day. If you're sitting in a cave, it's time to come out and move on.
