"Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord: we have blessed you out of the house of the Lord." Psalm 118:26
The next time we see this verse in the scriptures is during Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem. "And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest." (Matthew 21:9)
At that time the people were rejoicing, blessing and praising Jesus. They were praising Him as the king they believed who would come to set them free and reestablish them as a nation. They were praising Him because of what they believed He was going to do. Can't we praise Him for what He has already done? We are so slack in our praise and worship to Him. He has done great and marvelous things for us, and we take it so lightly or for granted.
He shed His blood for you so that you can be saved. He took your punishment upon Himself so that you would not have to face the wrath of God. He has made you a joint heir in His kingdom. He has given you miracles after miracles through protection, healing and provision. He has shown you such abundant grace and mercy. So where is your praise? Again, they praised Him for what they believed He was going to do, can't we at least praise Him for what He has already done for us?
Have a great day. If you can't praise Him before you see Him move on your behalf, can't you a least praise Him after He has?
