"A Wise Man's Warning"

"Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices."  2 Corinthians 2:11

We know that satan's goal is to steal, kill and destroy.  He has many devices that he uses to try to accomplish his goal.  He uses lies, deception, condemnation, guilt, fear and so on.  We see one of his devices present at the birth of Jesus.  "And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also." (Matthew 2:8)

Satan was using the wicked King Herod to try to deceive the wise men into telling him where the Christ Child was.  He wasn't interest in worshipping Him-- that was a lie.  He wanted to kill Him. 

When Herod requested to know where the child was, it seemed "logic" that him being a king would want to also honor the new-born king.  His request seemed "sincere".  But this was not his plan at all.  This is why we have to be discerning.  This is why we have to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit.  This is why we can't lean to our own understanding.  This is why we have to hear and heed what the Lord tells us. 

The Lord warned the wise men in a dream about Herod's plot and they heeded the warning and obeyed it.  The Lord is faithful to warn us as well when satan is using one of his devices and tricks against us.  That warning may come through a dream.  It may come through a prophecy.  It may come through a scripture verse.  It may come through another person's insight.  Or it may come through His still, small voice.  Regardless, we must listen, pay attention, don't ignore, heed and obey what He is saying.  Lest we become ignorant of satan's devices and fall prey to them.

Have a great day.  God will warn us when satan is using one of his devices against us.  We just need to listen to and obey His warning.
