"What Are You Saying?"

"Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile." Psalm 34:13

I have been teaching my four year old granddaughter not to say "bad" things. I told her that God gave us our mouth and He doesn't want us to use it to say bad things only good things. Just as I am trying to teach her, my Heavenly Father is trying to teach me the same lesson. He doesn't want us using our mouths to speak bad or evil. He doesn't want us to use them to curse others, to slander, to criticize, to condemn, to ridicule, to judge, for murmuring and complaining, to tear others down or be verbally abusive. He doesn't want us to use them to speak words of fear, doubt or unbelief.

What He does want us to use them for is to build up, speak truth, express love, bless others, edify, comfort, give praise and speak words of healing. The Bible says that "death and life are in the power of the tongue". Our tongues- the words that we speak- will produce something. They will either produce death or life, but not both. They can't produce both at the same time because death and life are the opposite of each other and can't dwell together at the same time. If you are speaking words of death, life will not come from them. If you are speaking words of life, death will not come from them.

Begin to pay attention to your words, each and every day. What are you saying? What is being produced by what you say? Are you using the mouth that God gave you to speak good things and life? Or are you using it to speak bad things and death?

Have a great day. We are either using our mouths to speak death or life, which one are you speaking?
